reflection on development pieces

i really enjoyed making the zine definitely my favourite thing i have created so far as i liked telling a story using a zine format was fun to create pages with different designs but still a overall aesthetic and storyline.

How are my ideas developing?

for my zine I decided to mainly develop ideas from my ink drawing of 'the moment after' in which i depicted a fly being eaten by a flytrap, and the prompt that danger should be visible but isn't, I used poisonous plants in my drawing. so i began exploring these ideas in my zine which incorporated narrative which i thought linked to 'the moment after prompt' as i told the story of a fly taking a rather dangerous journey encountering a lot of natural dangers. i think making the zine helped me greater explore my subject matter as i used only ink and charcoal in different ways to visualize my story, like switching between using negative and positive space in bold black and white to add a dramatic tone to the story. it also helped link the ideas of danger and moments after through the subject matter of plants and insects, which i then went on to research and develop these ideas more in my a3 pages as i looked at the anatomy of the plants and looked at how effective personifying the plants to create a stronger narrative in a piece of art. i particularly liked my charcoal drawings of the fly traps, as by adding the eyes it brought a whole expression to the plant and created the idea of the emotions and intent of these plants as the are characters now, due to the human-like facial expressions and features people would notice them more. i don't think i have really thought enough about how this could translate into one final piece yet and needed to focus better on one more solid idea so it can be well developed

How can I develop my work from here?

i could develop these ideas further by maybe sketching a few series of images and maybe thinking of wether it is more about the fly or the dangers he faces. i think this idea could work well as a small series of images depicting a narrative around the fly traps, or just exploring the different faces they could express.
